This is a lovely birdie from Polish comic book that I grew up on, Baranowski’s – Skad sie bierze woda sodowa. I am posting the collage, if you want to see the details just click on the photo to enlarge. I was trying to create it as close to the original drawing as possible, including the “look”.  How did I do?

This was much harder than I expected it to be. My friend asked for this cake topper that would put the bride and groom in their car. He was much more concerned about the car details than the bridal dress and hairdo details :)

The car needed to be kept very light so it required light filling, therefore made the sculpting less free. It was increasingly hard to smoothen the car out as well but I’m quite happy with the result, it’s more of a chunky fun version of the car (and I have made the lights out of glow in the dark clay as a surprise for the couple).
Take a look:

This was requested by my friend Ruth who wanted to make it very very customized. Down to the type of shoes and brand of vodka bottle! I was more than happy to comply. That’s the final result.

It took ages to make but it was all worth it! I hope you like it as much as the bride did :)

PostHeaderIcon Wicklow Arts Festival

Dear friends,

I’m neglecting this blog a little bit but I do have good reason, I’m not only finishing up college but also I’m preparing stock for my stall at Wicklow Arts Festival on 28-29 May 2011! If you want to have a look at my creations and get a feel for the jewellery and buy there in person, or just want to come over and chat me up a little bit – please do so :)

The website for Wicklow Arts Festival

I will be sharing my stall with a good friend of mine who does lovely things to silver and stones and makes amazing jewellery herself!

Cake topper i made some time ago and just posting it now – it was such a great fun to make this one!!!

And then we had to change the groom… :)

I was very happy with the outcome and it was such pleasure to do heavy customizing, for sure, noone ever will have another one like this. Truly unique!

PostHeaderIcon Flip my flops, hun!

This caketopper has been commissioned locally but on a very tight deadline, I had literally a few hours free to make it, including baking and glazing. That leaves absolutely no room for mistakes or remakes. I wish I could have spent more time on it and work in more detail but I think the effect is really nice, I loved the personalised shoe choice, the cake has been ordered not by the couple  and the lady who ordered asked for flip flops (because they’re a very laid back couple). I was delighted to personalize it for them, in the end this is why you order a handmade cake topper – to be able to personalize it to the tiniest detail!

PostHeaderIcon Wire me up!

A few new projects in a steampunky fashion that I’m really proud of!

Also – days are brighter now and warmer so I can take the photos outside which has significant benefits!

All the following were made from scratch (apart from the red agate stone in the set), the rose and the reptile were mare with polymer clay.

Items available on Etsy (apart from the red agate set which was sold 2 minutes after I put up the photo!), as always!

PostHeaderIcon What to make jewellery of?

I often wonder, do people care if their jewellery is made od silver, silver plated or other metal components? especially about the chain part of it? i personally don’t care if it’s silver or not as long as it doesn’t tarnish and doesn’t leave my skin green :) that’s why I love copper wires that are covered with enamel that gives them beautiful colours and keeps skin safe :)
